What are Dental Emergencies?
A dental emergency can happen at virtually any time, leaving you in pain and feeling incredibly frustrated. Unfortunately, even with the very best dental hygiene and care, an emergency can happen and will need immediate treatment. We offer emergency care to patients of all ages. We work with both new and existing patients to help solve the problem and eliminate the pain they’re experiencing.
Why is treatment of Dental Emergencies needed?
Unlike many other medical-related problems, dental issues rarely get better and heal on their own. If you’re experiencing severe pain, the discomfort can continue to get worse. Over time, an infection or abscess can occur, leaving you in even more pain than before. This is why immediate treatment of an emergency is so important, and we recommend coming into the office as soon as you notice there’s a problem.
What are some common Dental Emergencies?
We see many different types of dental emergencies on a regular basis. We are able to help with both minor and major emergencies that you or a loved one is experiencing. Some of the more common emergencies that we see on a regular basis include:
- Pain and severe toothache
- Infections and abscessing
- Broken or cracked teeth
- Loose, broken or lost restorations (fillings, crowns, etc)
- Orthodontic-related emergencies
- Lost or broken prosthetic appliances (dentures, partials)
What can be expected during your Dental Emergency appointment?
Your emergency appointment will begin by sitting you comfortably in one of our operatories. From there, we will ask you about the problem and take x-rays as needed. We then examine your smile to determine the root cause of the problem. If you have an infection, we will typically recommend taking an antibiotic before any type of treatment is done. We aim to treat the emergency quickly and efficiently so that you can leave the office without pain or discomfort. We work with both existing and new patients who are experiencing a dental-related emergency, and we’re happy to help get your smile back to normal.
