What is Teeth Whitening?

Over time and because of other lifestyle factors, your teeth may become dulled, stained and yellowed. This can be detrimental to your confidence, and a yellow smile can even age you far beyond your current age. This is why we offer high-quality professional whitening to those who want and need to look their best. Our in-office and take-home whitening options make it easy for you to achieve a glamorous smile.

Why would Teeth Whitening be needed?

Many different things can cause your teeth to look dull and yellow. You might be attending a special event, like a wedding, and you want to reveal a bright white smile that turns back the hands of time. Some of the different things that can cause your smile to become stained and discolored over time include:

  • Smoking and chewing tobacco
  • Drinking coffee, tea, fruit juice and cola
  • Certain medications
  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Staining foods (berries, chocolate)
  • The natural aging process

Who is a candidate for Teeth Whitening?

In order to be considered a good candidate for whitening, your teeth should be otherwise healthy and in relatively good shape. This means that your teeth should be free of decay and other dental problems that need to be addressed before whitening can be done. Most of our patients who want their teeth whitened can and should consider this treatment. Whitening is best done just once a year, and we can help in providing you with maintenance tips for keeping your smile looking its best.

What happens during the Teeth Whitening process?

For our in-office whitening, we will apply a thin layer of patented whitening gel to your teeth. A bright light is used to accelerate the results of your whitening. In just 30 to 60 minutes, your teeth are whitened by multiple shades and you’ll be ready to leave the office. Our take-home whitening involves taking impressions and using these to make whitening trays that you’ll use at home. We provide you with a whitening gel and give you instructions on how to wear the whitening trays to lighten and brighten your smile at your own convenience.
